Student Mediation Scheme

Student Mediation Scheme

If you are a student in dispute with a Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Course for Overseas Students (CRICOS) and FEE-HELP provider and have exhausted the internal grievance system process you may wish to seek an external appeal.

Since 2002, Resolution Institute has administered the Student Mediation Scheme to provide educational and training institutions (the providers)with an external appeals process. The Scheme allows Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Course for Overseas Students (CRICOS) and FEE-HELP providers and their students to refer a dispute to Resolution Institute as the external review body once their internal grievance system has been exhausted. Resolution Institute appoints a suitably qualified mediator, liaises between the parties as necessary and manages the process.

The Scheme provides for the following:

  •  appointment of a mediator

  • notification of the appointment to both parties

  • essential documentation to conduct the mediation

  • mediator to arrange a mutually convenient date and location for any preliminary conference and the mediation*. As part of joining the Scheme, the provider agrees to set aside a suitable room for the mediation (unless other arrangements are made with the mediator).

Robert is an approved mediator for these disputes.
